Life has been good. Life has been busy. Work. Jazz. Tap. Pilates. Home. I prefer too busy to not at all busy, though.
I can’t believe that the fall session is almost done and that December is upon us. Time flies when you’re having fun, right? Don’t forget to make up any missed classes before the end of the session, December 16. We’ll then have a few weeks off and we’ll start the winter session on January 11. Perhaps in the new year we might even start workshopping some choreography for the 2012 Super Show???
Last weekend, we viewed our video from KlaXson’s Greatest Hits show; Uwe Labelle did a great job putting it all together! Congratulations once again to Pierre Hobson, KlaXson’s Artistic Director & Choreographer, to all of the crew, and to the KlaXson, Cadance, and guest dancers for making it a memorable show. I am really looking forward to the Super Show!
I am still hard at work (or sometimes not as hard at work as I should be) trying to study for my Pilates exams. I have to learn every single mat exercise inside and out, along with brushing up on my anatomy, etc. I decided not to take my exams this weekend so I can keep learning and be absolutely prepared. I will test in February instead, which means I will continue practice teaching one-on-one at $12/hour. If you are not already on my special “Pilates” mailing list, let me know if you would like to be added. I’ll send out announcements of when I will be available for these one-on-ones.
I wanted to share a very interesting article with you about walking and how the shoes we think are good for our feet may not be all they’re cracked up to be. When you have some free time, you should take a look at it. I found out about this article through a great blog by Deborah Vogel about dance technique and injury prevention.
Last, but not least, thank you to all those who participated in Cadance’s first student survey! I have already begun implementing some of your suggestions and I hope that I can continue to improve to become a better teacher for you!
Until next time, keep dancing!
